The Politics of Oil

As of today, unleaded regular fuel is selling for about $2.85/gallon in North Carolina. Crude oil is running around $65/barrel. Some have projected $100 oil in the not too distant future, which would mean $5.00/gallon for gas.

As prices rise, those with inventories benefit from the increased value of that inventory, leading to record profits for oil companies like Exxon Mobil. This has led to public condemnation of these firms for "price gouging" otherwise known as sticking it to the American consumer.

But we have done this to ourselves. We haven't allowed a new refinery to be built in the US in decades, due in part to the costs associated with increased regulations. Then we decided to force the oil companies into refining special interest fuels, on a state by state basis, as green politicians caved in to the envirornmentalists. So the old refineries now have to blend oxygenated fuels specifically for political regions, rather than using the economy of national scale available to them.

We won't allow the development of our own nation's oil resources, because we don't like looking at wells, or we're afraid a caribou might die in an uninhabited arctic wasteland.

As a result, gasoline supplies get tighter, and prices rise.

So we deserve to pay $5.00/gallon for gasoline, just for being stupid.

And then there's our buddy, Hugo Chavez. The Venezuelan President, in a speech before the UN General Assembly, said that the area still smelled of sulphur resulting from the devil's presence there the day before. That devil, he said, was George Bush. In 2007, he told US officials, "Go to hell, gringos!". He did it again, yesterday.

Chavez is running his country's oil production facilities into the ground. He fired all the upper management years ago, and output has fallen by some 50% according to some analysts. Now, he has nationalized all foriegn owned oil facilities, siezing the property of US and other international firms. He is getting away with it, too.

Gas costs about 12 CENTS a gallon in Venezuela due to immense subsidies. But the Venezuelan owned CITGO gasoline company sells fuel here in the states at market prices.

And we stupid Americans buy it, and bitch about how we are powerless to do anything about it.

Citgo franchisees need to find another supplier, and US drivers need to boycott Citgo. Let the bastard try to build a pipeline to the Pacific, and a tanker fleet so he can sell his stolen oil to the Chicoms.

Political Correctness Kills

Who thinks this is a good idea... Putting unrestrained 200lb, 6 foot tall, young, violent felons in the sole charge of diminutive 51 year old grandmothers? Apparently the state of Georgia does. Because that's what happened just before grandma was smashed in the head, shot with her own gun, and three others murdered.
Grandma should survive.
The perp should not.
Nor should the idiotic practice of gender-norming which is designed for the single objective of achieving a politcal agenda at the expense of the public safety. When my 400 lb ass is in a sling, I'll need 3 MEN to drag it out. If only women are available, I'll need 6 of them. I don't have that many appendages. So I'll die.
If it ever comes to that, someone please remember this blog and sue the stuffing out of everyone who wants to kill me by allowing women firefighters to qualify by dragging 40 lbs across a smooth floor, instead of carrying 150lbs up a flight of stairs.

She's Baaahhhhck....

Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., speaking to the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, allegedly one of Durham's most influential political groups, drew the biggest ovation for saying, "the corporate media and Uncle Toms" do not truly represent black Americans' plight.

Hmmmm... Uncle Toms... Who could she be referring to? It would be someone OUTSIDE corporate media, someone of color... Jesse Jackson? No, he's corporate. Probably someone not of her political persuasion... That limits us to considering all rational black Americans, and eliminates the Congressional Black Caucus.

Lets see, who are her opposition's public black figures... Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Niger Innes, Alan Keyes, Ken Hamblin, Walter Williams, Armstrong Williams.

Yeah, that's them all right. Uncle Toms, every one.

CAIR doesn't care for Lt. Gen. Mattis

The Council on American-Islamic Relations recently called on the Pentagon to discipline Marine Lt. Gen. Mattis . "We do not need generals who treat the grim business of war as a sporting event," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. "These disturbing remarks are indicative of an apparent indifference to the value of human life."

Glad to see they have taken a position on the value of human life. Too bad it's in opposition to one of our most fearsome warriors, who was quoted as saying its fun to shoot the kind of scum that would beat up a woman for 5 years over not covering her face.

Now if only we could get our friends at CAIR to actually call on Muslim leaders to stop the kidnap, torture and murder of innocent civilians by people who share their lovely "peaceful" religion.

Dr. Nancy Hopkins develops the vapors

Dr. Nancy Hopkins, an MIT BIOLOGY professor, nearly fainted when a colleague suggested that biological differences between the sexes might have an impact on career paths. This was simply too much for the dainty MIT biology professor. She had to immediately remove herself from the proceedings and get some fresh air.

The good professor of biology declared afterwards that,"When he (Harvard University's President Lawrence Summers) started talking about innate differences in aptitude between men and women, I just couldn't breathe because this kind of bias makes me physically ill.".

Frankly, Nancy, I don't give a damn.

Steroids have eaten Conseco's brain!

Jose Conseco, in an interview on Fox, was queried about his use of steroids as a player. The interviewer said he had read the book, and wanted some details about the use of such substances. Jose, in some kind of churlish bid to get people to buy his book, and enrich himself beyond the millions he earned as a player, refused to say he did or he did not use steroids.

Why, in heavens name, would you write a book seemingly confirming your steroid use, agree to be interviewed for a national media program about steroid use by professional athletes, and then play coy with the interviewer?

I think the steroids have eaten his brain.

Pat Oliphant has a stupid attack!

http://www.ucomics.com/patoliphant/

Oliphant thought caricaturing a national black leader; Condoleezza Rice, as a bucktoothed, fatlipped, flatnosed parrot was a good idea. Brilliant.

Let's imagine for a moment that the cartoon was done 12 years ago, except the President was Bill Clinton, and the parrot was Ron Brown. The caption would read something like, "Wood snookums wike to weed da demokwats?". There would have been demonstrations in all the liberal hotspots calling for boycotts and blood.

But no, its ok to pull this crap on conservatives. After all, everyone knows they're stupid racists who want to kill your babies.

Welcome!

Welcome to Stupidity Alerts! The concept is simple. I pick an item that I think is remarkably stupid, and voice my unqualified and uneducated opinion about it.
